Today we are writing on: opportunity.

********************************************************************

I love watching the sun as it breaks across the horizon, in all its blazing glory.

A new day. A fresh slate. New opportunities.

Always wondering what this new day will hold.

On some days the surprise opportunity comes in the form of a necessary conversation.

On other days the opportunity comes with a few moments of “extra” time.

And sometimes the opportunity is disguised as a trial. Not really looking for it…but, there it is.

Waiting for what I will do with it.

My times are in your hands… Psalm 31:15 NIV

OK, are you ready? Give me your best five minutes on:  Ache…

I’ll be honest, usually when I think of the word ache, I think of the negative. The emptiness and ache after I experience loss, the way my neck and shoulders feel after a long, stressful day, sore and tired eyes that just want to know sleep.

But, as I thought about the word I had a beautiful picture of Jenny Lake in the Teton mountains. I remember visiting one year, on vacation. I remember how I felt as my eyes looked across the lake. How I felt when I admired the immense mountains. My heart has a special love for Wyoming with all it’s rugged beauty. I scanned the horizon, where the mountains seemingly touched the sky, and my breath caught in my throat. I literally ached from the beauty. I remember thinking, “Heaven is going to be like this, times a billion”. I got to look at all that beauty, and that was just here on Earth…I can only imagine what God has prepared for those who love Him!

However, as it is written

“What no eye has seen,
what no ear has heard,
and what no human mind has conceived”
the things God has prepared for those who love him— 1 Corinthians 2:9 NIV

Heaven On Earth

Sometimes we all just need to go to our “happy place”.  Don’t you have one? The place we go to when we are stressed out and we need a break from the hectic day. That place is different for all of us.  If we just close our eyes….we can see it….and it makes us smile. Every time. We breathe deeply and we remember.

For me it is Jackson Hole, Wyoming. At the base of the Teton Mountains. My family and I went on vacation there.  It was late Spring in the year 2001. I had lost my husband the year before, I was getting used to being a single mom, it was months before 9/11 happened and thus changing travel forever. Life for me was different then.  That place spoke to my soul. The “wild west” beauty of the valley framed against the most beautiful mountains I’ve ever seen. I didn’t just see that area as a tourist…but, as a place that I tucked away in my heart. Maybe, it was because of where I was in life at that time, the struggles I had endured, but I felt like this was one of the closest visions I’d ever have of heaven here on earth.

When I’m having a rough day I think about this place. I can see it in my mind’s eye. I can feel it in my heart.

Take a look at my heart. Scroll all the way down to see some of the pictures.

What is your place? Where are you the happiest? What place “speaks” to you?
