Dandelions are happy little pieces of sunshine. I can’t hate them, even though they are weeds.

Is there anything more peaceful than watching a horse graze in the field?

Even the dandelions are pretty!

I will praise the name of God with a song; I will magnify him with thanksgiving. Psalm 69:30  NIV

Driving Towards Home

Farmland, Blewbury The footpath crossing flat ...

I am driving towards home. The sun is shining, I have the radio playing and I am singing at the top of my lungs.

I don’t always remember the words, but that doesn’t stop me, because sometimes the song is too good to be kept inside. It bubbles up, threatening to explode, much like a jostled bottle of soda.

My gaze wanders over the great, open expanses of not yet planted cornfields, the sun pours through the windows, warm on my face and arms.

Blue sky, beautiful blue sky, I feel like I could look at it forever.

Horses graze in the lazy afternoon sunshine. A man drives a tractor.

I feel an air of anticipation as I often do at this time of year. Springtime brings with it a newness of life, a time of growth.

What is planted will soon be born. A celebration?

And what does this life hold? And how will my story unfold?

Taking time… precious, glorious time. Appreciating each moment.

I’m in no hurry, enjoying this slow drive on the back roads.

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.                         Romans 15:13  NIV

Springtime In The Country

This Saturday is damp and foggy. The ground is wet from the rain…

and there is goodness, even in the gray of this day.

Last Saturday was wrapped in sunshine. Wonderful warmth.

These are the beautiful opposites of Spring in the country.

A Saturday In Spring

Good morning, sunshine!

The view from my kitchen window always makes me smile.

The start of a new day…

I love to watch the neighbor’s llamas, across the road.

Shortly, there will be babies running around, that resemble cotton balls with legs.

Salem kitty is on the prowl.

She doesn’t like her picture taken, but she tolerates me chasing her around the yard until I get one!

Ace, you goober head!

You cannot lay in what will soon be my flower bed.

Jazz watches me from afar.

She’s usually curious about what is going on around the house.

These are the newest members of our family.

Ten chicks. Typical babies…they eat, sleep, and poop.

The neighbor’s barn. Doesn’t it look picturesque?

My family’s barn is metal and doesn’t have quite the same “Norman Rockwell” appeal to me, as this one.

Spring is busting out all over!

Necessary during the spring months, around here.

….and I took the one less traveled by….and it has made all the difference.

Lord Willing, And The Creek Don’t Rise

April showers bring May flowers…..or in my case, THUNDERSTORMS bring flooding.

This morning I woke to high winds, thunder, and lightening. It has rained pretty much the entire day.

The farm land across the road is saturated. There is now a lake where a field used to be.

Such is springtime in rural Ohio.

Springtime is the best and worst of times.

Rain and mud

Storms and flood

Plants blooming, pollen sneezing

Grass growing, allergic wheezing

Farmers planting

Dogs panting

Flip flops to wear

Ponytail hair

Sunshine so bright

Until late at night.

Let’s get into gear

‘Cause Springtime is here!

New International Version (©1984)
Ask the LORD for rain in the springtime; it is the LORD who makes the storm clouds. He gives showers of rain to men, and plants of the field to everyone.

In A Few Short Months…

Springtime.

The early morning light pours in through the window, spilling onto the floor like a puddle of sunshine.

In just a few short months the yard that is now covered in snow and ice, will give way to the lush greens of Spring.

The fields across the road that are playgrounds for drivers of snowmobiles, and cross country skiers, will be filled with seed.

In the midst of deep winter, there is the promise of Spring and of life.

Spring with all it’s muddiness.

And newness.

And freshness.

Blue skies and fluffy white clouds.

Roaring winds in kite flying weather

The promise of life in the midst of winter.
