There is nothing more beautiful than soft colors splashed across the evening sky.

It never gets old.

Always awe inspiring. Always breath taking.

Calming. Satisfying.

Peaceful.

Sometimes, when life seems overwhelming and busy, all it takes to put things back in perspective is an evening walk…

talking with God, while I enjoy His creation.

The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they display knowledge.  There is no speech or language where their voice is not heard.  Their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world. Psalm 19:1-4 NIV

He Became…

He became…flesh.

English: August 5, 2006, day laborers on Marvi...lesh.

The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. John 1:14 NIV

I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately.

Unlike other gods,

The Creator CHOSE to walk among us.

The Son of God…

became man. For me. For you.

The One who was at the beginning

and knew the glories of heaven…

Came. Here. To this place.

He humbled himself.

He washed feet.

He put his hands on the sick and diseased.

He spoke to the woman

that the town called a whore.

He hung out with fishermen and tent makers

tax collectors, and tax evaders.

He opened eyes that had been shut

both literally and figuratively.

He was a friend.

He was a  healer.

He was a teacher.

He is Savior. He is Ruler. He is Redeemer.

And …

HE IS GOD.

The Word Delight

Delight

Today, Bonnie at Faith Barista, has us writing about DELIGHT.

I like the word delight. It’s one of my favorites…along with epiphany and serendipity.

Some words just “click” with me, and delight is one of them.

According to Merriam-Webster, delight means:

a high degree of gratification : joy; also : extreme satisfaction. 2. : something that gives great pleasure

Don’t we all want that?

It’s a simple word really…but, carries with those consonants and vowels something much deeper.

A longing.

Deep gratification. To be satisfied.

Most of us, when we hear the word delight we don’t think about our jobs, or our to do list…

The word doesn’t come up over time spent at the gym, or necessary business trips.

Usually, the word delight means more.

People. Relationships. Bonds.

Someone can be delightful, or seeing their smile can be a delight.

Being known. Not just your name, or your job title, or your social security number.

Delight bursts forth in the knowing…and being known.

If someone told you that you were a delight to be around, wouldn’t that make you feel great?

Satisfied? Grateful? Loved? Joyful.

God feels that way about His children.

The LORD directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives.  Psalm 37:23 NLT

God knows me intimately. There is not a thought that goes through my mind that He does not hear.

There is nothing that I do, that He does not see.

I am not perfect. I fail daily….and yet, He delights in me.

I keep trying.

For I serve a God of second chances.

My desire is TO delight Him but, also to be delighted IN Him.

Deeply satisfied in my relationship with my Creator.

The One who knows me beyond all.

Trust in the LORD and do good;
dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.
 Take delight in the LORD,
and he will give you the desires of your heart.

Commit your way to the LORD;
trust in him… Psalm 37:3-5 NIV

Teaches Me To Trust

All I have seen teaches me to trust the Creator for all I have not seen.–Ralph Waldo Emerson

I came across this quote today in one of my favorite books. The words made me stop and think.

All I have seen— The vastness of space and the brilliance of the stars. The slight movement of the chest with each breathe. Ultrasounds with little hands and feet. The sun in the sky. Earthworms that aerate the ground. Family. Unique faces. Morning Glories and Venus Flytraps. Fruit and seeds. The Earth orbiting in space. Microscopic organisms. Platypus. Cat whiskers. The twinkle of the eye. The dexterity of my hands. Thumbprints. DNA.

teaches me to trust— (verb) Believe in the reliability, truth, ability, or strength of

the Creator— Who is, and was and is to come. Whose very words speak all into existence…who continually creates something out of nothing. He who understands the miracle, fills the void, and bridges the chasm.

for all I have not seen. –All those things for which I have no answer, the things that my finite mind cannot understand. Thoughts, feelings, circumstances beyond my control. The things too large for me to comprehend, or too small for me to observe. Things not seen by me, but are always known to the All Knowing.

1 You have searched me, LORD,
   and you know me.
2 You know when I sit and when I rise;
you perceive my thoughts from afar.
3 You discern my going out and my lying down;
you are familiar with all my ways.
4 Before a word is on my tongue
   you, LORD, know it completely.
5 You hem me in behind and before,
and you lay your hand upon me.
6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me,
too lofty for me to attain.  Psalm 139  NIV

Amen.
