Sleep Deprivation And Other Morning Things

I woke up at 4:30 this morning, not by choice. I am not the type that can function on just 5 hours of sleep. I can’t focus during the day when I’ve had such a small amount of sleep. My eyes roll back in my head, and my brain will remain in a fog (more so than usual). I finally got up at 5:15. Number one, I had to pee. Badly. Number two, I was already awake so I might as well give it up and just drag out of bed. I got a half look at myself in the mirror, not a full look because the light over the bathroom mirror is bright and I was sort of squinting. It is a good thing I didn’t get the full brunt of my countenance, I can only deal with so much at one time.

After a few minutes of teeth brushing, hair curling, and mascara applying, I looked like a new woman. Okay, maybe not new…I’ll go with refurbished. Hey, this particular model has been in commission since 1968, be gentle.

I am now ready to face the day. Head on. With some caffeine. After I take a nap.  One knows they are tired when the granite kitchen counter looks like a comfy place to lay ones head. Just for a few minutes. I promise. Of course, if I do that, with my luck I’d end up with a big red splotch on my forehead. Granite is not very forgiving.

Okay, I’m off to save the world before breakfast!  Wish me luck.

And the day begins…….

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases;
    his mercies never come to an end;
 they are new every morning;
    great is your faithfulness.  Lamentations 3:22-23 ESV
