Stay In The Game

Anyone  that watched the Super Bowl last night knows that it wasn’t much of a game. The Seahawks pretty much fed the Broncos their lunch. I don’t say that to disparage anyone. I mean, after all, it is just a game. A big game watched by millions, but still just a game. Lessons will be 102_3860learned, fans will celebrate, and life will go on.

I don’t know about you, but on many days I can relate more to the Broncos. I get out there on the field of life, ready to play, only to find that things are a lot tougher then I had first thought. Life slams me around. Sometimes I get hurt. I pick myself up and try again, dodge a few would- be tackles, and run for my life. On occasion I make the touchdown and do my own personal happy dance, but most of the time I’m just going through the plays in my head. Waiting. Waiting for my turn.

The world’s scoreboard sees the wins, but not the effort. Each day is hard practice as I learn to strengthen my heart, memorize the Word, and keep my focus razor sharp. The battles in life come, ready to slam us to the ground and knock the breath out of us. They do for each of us, no one is immune. The questions… Will you stay down? Or will you stay in the fight? As followers of Christ we are overcomers. The game isn’t over yet.
