My son drove, while I took pictures. He was very patient as his mother snapped photos of cornfields in early March. He didn’t complain when I requested he stop so I could get a picture of an old, dilapidated barn or required him to slow down for a photo op of tiny white farmhouses in the distance. He just knows me….and he smiled.
It was so much fun to have the freedom to wander America, with no assignments. For 25 or 30 years I never had an assignment. These were all stories I wanted to do myself. —-Charles Kuralt
